This This page describes the Broadgun pdfmachine software which users can use in conjunction with PALLETMANAGER and CARGOMANAGER to produce output in Adobe PDF format and to email these files.
It also provides help for users who are experiencing problems with this feature.
Installation / Use.
The e-PALLET and e-CARGO modules comprise of 2 components:
Users may already have software systems available to them (e.g. from Adobe) which will allow them to create PDF files and these can be used as an alternative to the Broadgun product described here.
Installations of licensed copies of PALLETMANAGER or CARGOMANAGER from CD's dated 15/3/2004 or later already install as standard the special PALLETMANAGER / CARGOMANAGER programs needed to link to the Broadgun software.
The Broadgun printer driver is in use by thousands of users worldwide and provides a set of easy-to-use and powerful facilities which utilise the free Adobe Viewer software (www.adobe.com). Full details, a trial download (which is fully functional but uses a Broadgun watermark on each page) and purchase of the software can be made via www.pdfmachine.com
(If required we can also arrange the supply of a license for pdfMachine, however users might benefit from purchase direct - not in terms of price but in terms of free upgrades which Broadgun may provide to the newest releases)
Operation:
In operation the user simply prints from the application in the normal manner, but chooses the Broadgun PDF printer rather than their normal Windows printer. An Adobe PDF file is produced and displayed on screen, and this may be sent as an email attachment or saved to disk in PDF format. A range of addition features are available, including the facility to display multiple pictures on a page (e.g. multiple CARGOMANAGER load plans), and facilities to add watermarks etc.
The PALLETMANAGER / CARGOMANAGER programs are designed to ensure that all required printouts are grouped together as a single PDF file, and are given an appropriate default filename.
As described above the Broadgun PDF printer, when installed, appears to the user as any other printer which they have installed. On rare occasions users who have successfully used the feature for some time have reported problems in use and this section describes how the Broadgun driver can be tested.
Firstly we should emphasize that the configuration / testing of the driver should initially be carried out as with any other Windows printer, and without actually using PALLETMANAGER / CARGOMANAGER.
For example under Windows XP it appears as below under the set of available printers.
If all is well then a Windows test page should appear to screen as shown below. If this does NOT happen then please see the suggestions below the following image.
If the above procedure fails.
The above procedure to print a test page will use the free Adobe viewer to display the test page.
If the viewer has not been installed, or if it has been corrupted in some way then this could certainly explain your problem. You can test this by trying to display a pdf file - for example try selecting this hyperlink - which should display a 4-up display from CARGOMANAGER.
If this fails to load then the configuration of your Adobe PDF viewer is at fault and you should contact your IT support or re-install this from the www.adobe.com site.
If the PDF display is fine then the next stage is to re-install the Broadgun pdfmachine software from CD or web download (www.broadgun.com or www.pdfmachine.com ). Then carry out the above test procedure once again - hopefully successfully.
